READING TAKES YOU PLACES

In honor of National Library Card Sign-Up Month, The New York Public Library partnered with Morgan Stanley to put a spotlight on reading. For the entire month of September 2019, the Library encouraged new patrons to get their library card with a campaign that ran on Morgan Stanley’s electronic billboard screens spanning 13,000 feet in the heart of Times Square.

Leveraging this prime location that is seen by 380,000 pedestrians daily, the campaign connected New York's most beloved destinations with Library services to bring awareness to the benefits of library cards in a fun and unexpected way. It also used the visibility and reach of the screens and in-branch tie-ins across 88 branch locations as an opportunity to introduce a new library card design with the tagline “Knowledge is Power,” reminding everyone who passed through Times Square that the Library is here to make New Yorkers stronger during September—and all year long.
